Steep
Documentary about the origins of big mountain and extreme skiing. In general i'm not particularly interested in skiing, but this movie managed to keep my attention for pretty much the entire run time. Looks really good, lots of great shots of the mountains and the skiers doing what they do best. Exciting and kinda sad.
The Midnight Meat Train
Photographer investigates strange goings on in the subway. One of the better horror films to come out of 2008. There's not really a whole lot in terms of plot in this move, and the gore is pretty over the top, but that's a lot of what the movie has going for it. None of the characters are super annoying, which is one thing that's seems to be in a lot of movies these days. The character you "love to hate", but really it'd just be better if there weren't' there at all. If for nothing else then the scene with Ted Raimi alone makes this one worth watching.
Still Waiting
Restaurants compete for customers. The (long awaited?) sequel to Waiting. Some characters for the original make brief appearances, but it's mostly a new cast. I'll watch pretty much anything with Andy Milonakis in it, and John Michael Higgins is usually pretty awesome. This one had it's laughs, wasn't too bad. I'd probably rate it slightly below the first Waiting.
Persepolis
The story of the youth of an Iranian girl, adapted from a comic. I read the comic before seeing the movie, and some of the parts i liked from the comic were either omitted of shortened, which was kind of a shame. Overall thought, this is a good movie, especially the animation, it really captures the art style from the comic.
Old School
A bunch of thirtysomethings try to start a fraternity. I heard this was funny, but i'm not a big fan of Will Ferrell, or Vince Vaughn for that matter. It has it's moments, but i wasn't crazy about it.
Futurama: Into The Wild Green Yonder
Further adventures of the Planet Express crew. I'm not really sure where i'd rank this among the other movies. It has it's ups and downs, like all of 'em. I'm really more interested in seeing them relaunch the show again. The shorter format seems to work a lot better, all the movies seemed kinda dragged out to me. Guess it's wait and see.
Wrong Turn 2: Dead End
More hillbilly cannibals. Not much to say about this, some ok kills, but for the most part it was kinda boring. Henry Rollins as a marine was funny, he's pretty much the only reason to watch this.
