Aladdin
Poor boy falls in love, finds magic lamp. Hadn't watched this movie in years, and it didn't really hold up as well as I was expecting. I guess that's probably because it's obviously targeted at kids, and everything just seems a little more boring and predictable when you're older. Songs are still alright though, and it's one of Robin Williams better performances before he just became kinda a joke.
The Adventures Of Buckaroo Banzai Across The Eighth Dimension
Buckaroo Banzai has to stop the evil Dr. Lizardo. This movie is a cult classic, and with good cause. Awesome characters, ridiculous situations, and the promise of a sequel that was never made. There's also a They Live kinda thing going on, or really it's the other way around I guess, but either way it's a plus.
9 To 5: Days In Porn
Documentary about the modern porn industry in america. This isn't about porn as right or wrong, it's just about the lives of various people who work in the industry, producers, directors, agents, and stars. It's pretty interesting, but there's a bunch of graphic sex, as you might expect, so it's probably not for everybody.
[REC]
Crazy stuff happens at an apartment complex, and a film crew is there to see it. I'm not much for these fake documentry style movies (except mockumentarys), but this one was actually really good. The premise of the camera being there in the first place wasn't too ridiculous, and there's a good flow overall. At just under 75 minutes it's pretty short, but that works really well in this case, as anything longer would have just been unnecessary padding. [REC] has already been remade in america as Quarantine, only about a year after it was originally released. I haven't seen Quarantine yet, but I don't really see the point of doing remake that soon (or at all in the case of a lot of remakes).
Open Season 2
The further adventures of a bear and a deer. I really only watched this because Joel McHale does a voice. I couldn't even make it through the first one, and this isn't much better, if at all.
Flow
Documentary about corporations that try to control water. Interesting and scary stuff. Access to clean, safe water is really taken for granted, and eventually the bubble's gonna burst. Definitely worth watching.
Bowling For Columbine
Documentary about guns in america. Rewatching this one. Saw it when it first came out, but not since. Still interesting stuff, but this time I was a bit more critical of the way Michael Moore presents some of this ideas. He spends too much time trying to make Charlton Heston out to be the villan.
Friday The 13th (2009)
Someone is murdering people in the woods. If this was just another slasher movie with a different killer it would have been ok, but as a Friday The 13th it didn't really work for me. Not that a straight remake would have been any better, but maybe it's just time to do some new shit, all this remake nonsense is getting pretty played.
Also watched MST3K versions of Space Mutiny, Soultaker, Hobgoblins, and Future Wars, and the Rifftrax of Jurassic Park.
